So most of my recent posts have been about finding my wife a new car to replace her cancer infected 2001 Crapvalier. I was really pushing fro a MK5 GTI, but we test drove a car today that she likes, and will work great fro both of us. After test driving a 2011 Fiesta yesterday and ruling them out as the interior was too cheap, and really it’s smaller than we’d like. We found a Tidewater Blue 2010 Honda Fit “Sport”
It’s got almost 38,000 miles She loves the color, it’s blue but looks purple in most some light. So it’s cute, it’s extremely piratical, and I don’t hate it. Good enough. We’re going to take it to a mechanic tomorrow, and then probably negotiate the price. There’s a 75% chance that She’ll be the proud owner of an okay car! Only bummer for me is there’s no sunroof.
Also Rally Fit.

Congratulations!
Fits are pretty good. I personally put the Fiesta a spot above them overall (very similar size and packaging, though the Fit does have that clever “Magic Seat”), and the Fit feels the most connected to classic Hondas, that is, efficient, reliable, clever, and even fun. The 2nd generation is much improved over the first, as even Mr. Regular will attest, though the same applies to the 2014+ Fiestas. I personally enjoy the Mazda2 best out of the class, despite the very-dated interior, and being down on power against the Fiesta and Fit, though the Fiesta is based on its platform.
All that being said, damn near anything would be better than a crapalier.

Solid choice! My fiancee had one before her current car, and it lasted a while. She put 190k mi on a 2007 Fit Sport, and her parents put another 20k on it after.

Nice. it’ll probably take about 20 years for us to put on that many miles.

It was a very handy hauler. You will be thoroughly surprised in how much stuff can fit in it with the back seats folded down.

I know. My wife wants to be able to easily fit a bike inside her car. I think with the front wheel off, and the “magic seats” up, she could slide her bike in behind the front seats very easily.
getting a 27” mountain bike inside a Fiesta would be no easy task. do able but not easy.

Honestly I think The two things that turned her off of the Fiesta was the radio, which admittedly is an odd set up, and the cheap hard plastic on the steering wheel spokes. Also the one we drove had 83,000 miles, and was only 1,500 less than the Fit.

That’s fair. It’s very Euro with the 10-number keypad, but I like the ability to save 10 presets for each radio setting. The keypad buttons are also a tad small, and the display isn’t the best in the pre-facelift cars - thankfully that improved with the 2014s, and they switched from the garish red to a pleasant soft light-blue tone. What trim level was the Fiesta?
Glad you’re looking at a 2nd-generation Fit, as the 2014+ models - while significantly improved over their predecessors - have a glaring flaw: Honda’s new infuriatingly-bass-ackwards radio, wherein there are only a few buttons, two of which are the volume controls - up and down touch buttons, not a knob as it should be - which means one has to navigate several obscure screens to do what is necessary, and is difficult at best if on the move. I spent a week in a 2015 Fit EX (manual, of course, thankfully still a Fit strong point) which had a glut of gee-whiz features, and I had to stop in a parking lot to program the radio presets because it was so involved. Once they were programmed it wasn’t a problem again, but Honda’s new radios - which I’ve sampled in the Accord, CR-V, Civic, and new Fit - are wretched, corporate overkill for past complaints about there being too many buttons. Only slightly less infuriating than Cadillac’s CUE and chevy/buick/gmc MyLink. /rant
Hope the inspection goes well and leads to a good result!

Good choice. We owned an ‘09 Fit Sport with the manual tranmission, and I can tell you that the combo of the sweet Honda shifter/clutch, tight suspension and thrash-worthy engine made the Fit a fun car to drive. It’s buzzy and unstable at freeway speeds (75mph and above), but on surface roads it’s good to drive in a slow-car-fast kind of way. And you can’t beat the practicability of that little car.
We’d still have the Fit for our kids today if my oldest son hadn’t spun out on ice and smashed it into a tree. Great car.

We fit a bike in both with the magic seats up or folding the seats down. If you fold the back seats down, you should be able to fit a bike in there without removing the front wheel.

Oh I wish we were getting one with a stick, but the wife doesn’t want to have a manual in her every day driver. She has said she’d like to get a fun car with a stick some day tho.

The Fiesta was an SES with the SFE package, which meant steel wheels(booo). It did have the 7 color mood lighting tho, that is neat. I certainly wouldn’t mind owning a Fiesta, but I wouldn;t buy one right now. If I was going to buy one it would be a 1.o Ecoboost for myself.

We had a 2009 Honda Fit Sport for a few years. You can fit two mountain bikes in one with the rear seats down. They are incredibly practical little cars. The auto is a bit gutless, but for her it should be fine. Handling is good enough. Not perfect, steering feel is a little lacking, but I drive a Miata so I’m biased.

Well she’s coming from a 2001 Cavalier So to her the steering is tight and responsive lol. We did get the Fit, an she keeps saying how it feels “tighter” than her Chevy.

I realized right after posting that the thread was a week old. Congrats on the purchase. It’s a fun little car to throw around.
